On Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Annecy will celebrate the Return from the Mountain Pastures, an autumn tradition that has shaped mountain life since the Middle Ages and has attracted both locals and visitors every year since 1973.
The streets of the old town come alive with crafts from the valleys and tastes of yesteryear, featuring demonstrations of traditional trades, gourmet tastings, and a showcase of local products. The event is accompanied throughout the day by folk and musical performances.
The animal parade, scheduled for 2:30 p.m., is the highlight of the festival. Sheep, goats, donkeys, dogs, geese, and horses descend from the mountain pastures, accompanied by their shepherds, illustrating the practice of transhumance and offering a unique spectacle in the heart of Annecy.
