Geneva Luxury Week
9 to 20 November 2025
From 9 to 20 November 2025, Geneva will host Sotheby's Luxury Week, a major event featuring exceptional auctions in the fields of watchmaking, jewellery and objets d'art. This series of sales offers collectors and enthusiasts rare and historic pieces that reflect the expertise and innovation of the greatest Houses.
Important Watches – 9 November 2025
The day will begin with the ‘Important Watches’ sale, which will feature iconic watches from prestigious brands such as Patek Philippe, Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin and Cartier.
Among the highlights is the Cartier Portico Mystery Clock, owned by industrialist Gunter Sachs since 1966. Combining elegance and watchmaking engineering, this clock is distinguished by its exposed mechanism, creating the illusion that the hands are floating in the air. This unique and iconic clock has only been offered on the market on rare occasions and is a lot of historical and aesthetic importance.

Another highlight of this sale is the Rolex Oyster worn by Mercedes Gleitze, the first British woman to swim across the English Channel during her famous ‘Vindication Swim’ in 1927. This model, made of 9-carat yellow gold before the screw-down crown was patented, accompanied Gleitze during her more than ten-hour immersion in the icy waters of the English Channel, withstanding temperature variations and extreme conditions. This historic timepiece symbolises a major turning point for Rolex, which now associates its name with performance and adventure, while marking the birth of what would become modern sports watchmaking. The watch is estimated at over CHF 1 million (£1.3 million) and will be auctioned for the first time in 25 years.
