Lake Festival in Annecy

The Lake Festival, an iconic event that lights up the Annecy basin every summer, has its roots in a long tradition of nautical and pyrotechnic shows organised on Lake Annecy since the 16th century. These festive displays, originally designed to honour the visit of sovereigns, took on a special significance during the sumptuous Venetian festival held in 1860 in honour of Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie, shortly after Savoy was annexed to France.

Now recognised as one of the greatest pyrotechnic displays in Europe, the Lake Festival remains above all a celebration rooted in the local imagination: a joyful and popular event, an intergenerational gathering that punctuates the year with consistency and emotion.

The 2025 edition, which will take place on 2 August, invites the public to an immersive experience based on the artistic project Ode à la Lune, created by the French company Arteventia. In six acts, a powerful and poetic 70-minute show will combine pyrotechnics, water jets, light shows, lasers, luminéoles and batucadas, offering a subtle dialogue between technique and emotion.
