Return of the Alpages

The Retour des Alpages is a not-to-be-missed event that attracts thousands of visitors to the streets of Annecy every year. This traditional event, celebrated since 1973, marks the descent of the herds from the mountains to the stables, symbolising the end of summer and the arrival of winter. On Saturday 12 October 2024, from 9am to 6pm, the town will be transformed into a folk festival, offering locals and visitors a chance to immerse themselves in Savoyard traditions.

At the heart of the festival, you'll be able to admire a herd parade at 2.30pm, accompanied by folk music and the ringing of bells. The streets of Annecy will also be alive with demonstrations of old trades, traditional dance groups, and tasting stands showcasing local flavours.

Make the most of this day to discover or rediscover local crafts, taste regional products and soak up the warm atmosphere that reigns during this festival.
